Burgundy guided or self drive culinary tour

We recommend the 8 days itinerary, however it is possible to organise a shorter stay with a minimum of 5 days (min 2 pers).

ITINERARY

DAY 1 (MONDAY)

After around 2 hours drive from Paris Charles de Gaulle airport, Burgundy landscapes open up in front of you! On the way, stop for lunch at a lovely auberge before ending the day in Noyer sur Serein, classified amongst the most beautiful French village with its half-timberings and carved stones, columns and pinnacles carved, granite and limestone pavers, small alleys and successions of plots, towers licked by the meandering of the Serein. Dinner is to be enjoyed in a very French restaurant with the type of owner who makes the place, defined by previous clients as "hilarious" and charismatic! Overnight in a charming guest house.

 

DAY 2 (TUESDAY)

After a nice French breakfast, drive to "Flavigny sur Ozerain", a charming medieval village where the movie Chocolate has been shot. Situated on a rocky spur, surrounded by three streams, visit a sweet factory within the walls of an ancient abbey dating from 719, to discover how these delicious “anis” managed to keep same recipe over time. The lunch is to be enjoyed in a traditional ferme auberge. On the afternoon, free time to rest and walk around to admire the view and architecture.  Dinner is at a local home close to Flavigny and overnight at a welcoming guest house in Flavigny. 

 

DAY 3 (WEDNESDAY)

Today, on your way to Dijon, stop in another stunning medieval village built on granite and surrounded by a river. Lunch is in a lovely French style restaurant and the afternoon is spent in Dijon, one of the 13 regional capitals of France and one of the largest historical preservation sectors. Visit of the oldest Spice bread shop since 1796 and the beautiful Maille mustard shop. Free time the rest of the afternoon. Dinner is 1 star Michelin restaurant with a young team and the youngest one star Michelin chef (26 years). Overnight at a bed and breakfast right in Dijon center.

 

DAY 4 (THURSDAY)

French breakfast served in the room. Then discover the lifestyle of Bourguignon people over centuries in a fascinating museum. Lunch takes place in a beautiful 1 star Michelin restaurant. After lunch, drive to Beaune. Free time. Dinner of your own choice. Overnight at a bed and breakfast in Beaune.

 

DAY 5 (FRIDAY)

French breakfast at the B&B. Free time on the morning. After driving up the hill above Nuit Saint Georges, discover everything about truffles and even accompany a truffle dog to understand how they found this golden mushroom. The visit finishes with truffle products tasting.  Lunch is in a typical country-side restaurant where only the locals go to. Visit a red berries farm cultivating under biodynamism and discover the climates of Burgundy and taste their flavourful traditional products (alcohol, cream, vinegars, butters). At the end of the afternoon, visit of one of the oldest wine estate in the region and  obviously have a wine tasting! Free time on the evening and dinner on your own. Night at same B&B in Beaune.

 

DAY 6 (SATURDAY)

Today, experience Beaune market. Visit the cellar of a prestigious wine estate stocking 2000 bottles from the XIXth century, and end the visit with a wine tasting for aperitif. Lunch is at a 15th century cellar in a restaurant! On the afternoon, visit one of the most well-known French moutarderie. Then, drive to Vezelay, a defendable hill town famous for its Abbey. This village dating back to the roman period, is also known as “La Colline Éternelle”, the eternal hill. Dinner at one of the nicest restaurant of this charming village. Overnight at a romantic guest house in Vezelay. 

 

DAY 7 (SUNDAY)

Last town to be experienced In Burgundy is Chablis. First, explore the market to buy the most appealing fresh ingredients for picnic. Taste Chablis wines and discover Chablis countryside with electrical bicycles during the afternoon. Enjoy a picnic on the bank of a lake. Dinner and overnight in a beautiful hotel in Chablis.

 

DAY 8 (MONDAY)

After a yummy French breakfast and relaxed morning, drive back to Paris Charles de Gaulle airport.

 

Dates:  Tours can be organised at your own dates from end of April to end of September. Tours must start on Monday (arrival at Paris Charles de Gaulle or Paris city center) and finish on Monday (drive back to Paris airport or city center).
